Luis Rubiales thanks local authorities for the social and sporting improvements in Saudi Arabia
The president of the RFEF acted as host at the institutional act on the day of the final of the tournament in Riyadh.
The Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Al Khateeb, the Deputy Minister of Sports, His Excellency Abdullah Al Durak and the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal, received replicas of the Spanish Super Cup trophy that was played this Sunday in Riyadh from the President of the RFEF.
The institutional act was held during half-time of the final and it was an opportunity for the heads of both national federations to express their gratitude for the success of this tournament. They highlighted the sporting and social improvements that the tournament has brought to Saudi Arabia.
"Thank you very much for this opportunity", said the president of the RFEF, who underlined the importance of the creation of a regular competition played by women. He also emphasised the fact that the Saudi Arabian women's national team will enter the FIFA world rankings for the first time as well as the impact that football is experiencing among all sportspeople and fans, both men and women, in this country as a result of holding a major tournament such as the Supercopa in Riyadh.
Likewise, the presidents of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, and FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, corresponded the local authorities with gifts during the same institutional event, which ended with a family photo before the trophy presentation ceremony that the authorities carried out on the pitch of the King Fahd Stadium in the Saudi capital.
