The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Mapfre have reached an agreement whereby the insurance firm becomes a partner-sponsor of the Copa del Rey and the final of the Copa de la Reina football tournaments. As part of this agreement, the men's competition will adopt the name ‘Copa del Rey MAPFRE’.
This collaboration will already be visible in the matches to be played on 29, 30 and 31 October, where the MAPFRE name and image will be present in this emblematic competition, which has witnessed many memorable matches in Spanish football history.
The agreement, for the next three years, goes beyond a simple sponsorship. RFEF and MAPFRE are committed to promoting the Copa del Rey MAPFRE and encouraging the participation of fans and volunteers, as well as implementing social responsibility initiatives. This approach aims to make the competition an inclusive event that reflects the diversity of Spanish football.
The Spanish Federation's agreement also involves MAPFRE supporting the Copa de la Reina, with the aim of contributing to its dissemination and improvement. This commitment underlines the need to give visibility and impetus to women's football, an area that MAPFRE considers fundamental for the development of the sport in Spain.
‘With this agreement, MAPFRE reaffirms its commitment to sport and society, seeking to reach every corner of the country and contribute to the hopes of millions of Spaniards through football, the ‘national’ sport in Spain, which is an integral part of the daily lives of many Spaniards all year round,’ said Fernando Garrido, Director of Marketing and Communication at MAPFRE Spain.
For his part, the Commercial and Business Development Director of the RFEF, Ramón Plaza, highlighted the importance of receiving this support for the biggest competition in Spanish football, the Copa del Rey, which encompasses clubs of all categories and is the hallmark of the institution that runs the sport in our country. ‘This is excellent news, which adds to the Federation the value of an entity of worldwide prestige such as Mapfre’.
MAPFRE is the market leading insurance company in the Spanish market, leader in the automobile, home and business insurance business, among other branches, with more than 7.4 million customers, around 11,000 employees in Spain and more than 3,000 offices distributed throughout the country.
