María Luisa, Olga Carmona's grandmother, takes centre stage in the build up to the final

Olga Carmona's grandmother experienced a very special UEFA Women's Nations League final

"It was as if I was living in a different world," says María Luisa when asked about going out onto the pitch with her granddaughter, Olga. No wonder. In the space of a year, Olga Carmona has won the World Cup and the UEFA Women's Nations League, scoring the most important goal in the history of the Spanish women’s national team. Few would imagine she could get there so young, but María Luisa always had faith.

Her grandmother, one of the representatives of the  Executive Box 0 organised by the RFEF to honour the work of "pioneers" in the fight for women's rights, was able to experience one of the most important moments of her granddaughter's life on the pitch. She had never been able to enjoy watching her granddaughter in action from such close quarters. Furthermore, she was the star in the lead-up to the Spain - France match at La Cartuja in Seville (her home city), she was selected to carry the ball to the centre of the pitch as guest of honour at the start of the match.

All this dressed in a Spain shirt, which she admits she will ask all the players to sign so that she can have "a nice reminder" of this beautiful day. I'm sure they will, because, as she admits, all the players all love her. Proof of this is how they all came up to embrace her in the tunnel. After giving Olga a kiss to wish her luck in a match in which Spain relied on their quality more than fortune, she repeated that she loves seeing Olga play for the Spanish National Team. And so do all football fans.
