MATCH PREVIEW | Spain to face Italy in search of third straight win
The Spanish national team faces two decisive matches in the UEFA Women's Nations League this week. The first of these (today at 17:45 on La1). The national team go into the match as the only team in their group with two consecutive victories, meaning that leaving the Arechi Stadium in Salerno with all three points would be crucial for their future in the competition, as the goal of qualifying for the next Olympic Games appears over the horizon.
Facing them will be Italy, a team that has historically made things very difficult for Spain in their head-to-heads, although Spain have not lost in any of their last four encounters. While Montse Tomé said that "it's an exciting competition", Tere Abelleira knows that her opponents will be extra motivated to face the reigning world champions: "Beating the world champions is an added bonus for other teams". All that remains is to get the ball rolling and for the Spanish team to let their feet do the talking on the pitch.
