On Wednesday a packed El Sadar stadium was able to witness an exciting first leg of a very evenly matched semi-final. The home side's early momentum was halted by Ernesto Valverde's team, which included a very active Muniain, who almost scored during the first quarter of the match.

The mutual respect resulted in a goalless first half, however just after the restart this was all to change. A deep ball from Moi Gómez was converted into a goal by Abde, who, after an impressive run, unleashed a left-footed shot that was impossible for goalkeeper Agirrezabala to keep out.

The goal motivated Athletic's players, against an Osasuna intent on holding on to their lead. Valverde moved the bench to, among others, introduce Nico Williams and end up cornering the home team.

Then Sergio Herrera appeared and the defensive resistance of the team from Navarra, which ultimately managed to reach the second leg at San Mames on April 4 with an advantage.
