With the hard work in qualification already done, Spain arrived in the Czech Republic for a qualifier for next summer's European Championships, a goal already achieved by Montse Tomé's side, who today suffered a inconsequential defeat in terms of reaching the tournament.

The World Cup and inaugural UEFA Nations League winners saw the home side come from behind after Aitana Bonmatí's early goal. The Barça midfielder gave Spain the lead in the first half after 15 minutes from a cross-shot.

However, a brave and resilient Czech side found a way to turn the result around. Svitkova equalised just before half-time and Bartonova scored the second from the spot in the second half.

Shortly afterwards, as Spain went close to getting the equalizer and then Irene Paredes was shown a red card. The match should help Spain to refocus ahead of the historic Olympic Games which kick off in a few days' time, although before that they still have to complete their qualification campaign for the next European Championships in La Coruña against Belgium.
