The Spanish national team received a warm welcome from the 17,532 fans packed into the Heliodoro Rodríguez López in Tenerife for the fourth match of the Euro 2025 qualifying campaign. Despite beating Denmark in the first match, Spain knew that their opponents were not going to make it easy for them the second time round. A point further highlighted four minutes into the game when Snerle crossed from the right flank and Thomsen headed the visitors into the lead.

Apart from the scoreline, Montse Tomé's team were dominating all aspects of the game, with the ball pressed deep in their opponents' half and frequently getting through into the Danish box. Salma and Athenea tried their luck but their shots failed to find the back of the net. Spain also had numerous set-piece chances, but they were unable to convert them into shots on target.

The second half belonged to Spain once again, with the Spanish constantly nipping away at their opponents, eager to get back into the game. First Oihane tried her luck from outside the area and then Lucía García, who had just come on, broke through from the right flank only to see her shot blocked by Ostergaard and Salma not quite able to reach the loose ball.

A handball in the box was then given as a penalty for Spain, but the Danish goalkeeper dived well to her right to stop the spot-kick. Bruna Vilamala then came on on her birthday to make debut for Spain in place of Jenni Hermoso.

Minutes later, Thomsen scored a second to get her brace, but Spain did not give up and their captain was in charge of pulling the strings. The action was just about to get going. Two corners were taken by Alexia and two corners were scored by Irene Paredes in just a matter of minutes. The scores were all level once again in a game that was not over yet because the Spaniards wanted even more. And with just seconds to go, Teresa Abelleira crossed a ball into the heart of the box which Lucía picked up to fire home and send the whole Tenerife stadium into raptures. It was an epic comeback, a victory and the dream way to confirm qualification for the European Championships.
