Champions show off their star with a show, goals, and record (5-0)

The Spanish National Team easily defeated Switzerland with goals from Lucía García, Inma Gabarro, Maite Oroz, and a brace from Aitana, securing their second victory in the Nations Women's League

The Spanish National Team displayed the star at home for the first time after being crowned World Champions in Australia and New Zealand, and they couldn't have done it any better. Minutes before nine in the evening, the captains, Irene Paredes and Alexia Putellas, raised the world title they won just over a month ago to the skies of Córdoba, offering it to a fan base that made history at the Nuevo Arcángel Stadium.

True to their style, the Spanish team took control of the ball from the initial whistle and pressured Switzerland relentlessly without the ball. With long possessions, moving the ball quickly from side to side to approach the opposing area, the first opportunities for Montse Tomé's team came, causing doubts for the opposing team.

Eva Navarro came close to scoring the first goal with a powerful shot that grazed the crossbar after taking advantage of a mistake in Switzerland's ball clearance. In the next play, the pressure from the Spanish players paid off, and in the 15th minute of the match, Mariona Caldentey forced the Swiss goalkeeper's error and left the ball for Lucía García to finish into an empty net. A goal that did justice to the scoreboard after a great start by the world champions. The Nuevo Arcángel audience was doing the wave in the stands, enjoying the display by the Spanish players.

Just before halftime, Olga Carmona sent a great ball from the left flank that Aitana Bonmatí perfectly utilized with a spectacular finish in the small area of Elvira Herzog's goal. With this goal, the second for Spain in the match, the best player of the last World Cup reached twenty goals as an international.

With the score at two-nil, it was halftime after a first half in which the Spanish National Team proved to be a solid team and showed superiority over their opponent in all aspects of the game.

The script didn't change after the restart. In the 49th minute, Aitana Bonmatí, with a goal typical of her style, would finish a new attacking play by the Spanish team after an assist from Alexia Putellas. Far from settling, the national team continued to deny Switzerland any chances. Precisely the two players Montse Tomé introduced into the field at halftime were the protagonists of the fourth Spanish goal. Inma Gabarro took advantage of the Swiss goalkeeper's rebound from Athenea del Castillo's shot to lift the spirits of the 14,194 fans present at the Nuevo Arcángel Stadium, establishing a new attendance record for a match of our national team.

Cata Coll didn't want to miss the party of the star's debut at home, making a great save to deny one of the few chances that Switzerland had. Rosa Márquez made her international debut, replacing Aitana Bonmatí. Maite Oroz rounded off the rout with a superb quick shot from outside the area that found its way into the Swiss net.

Good play, goals, and a show. In this team, not only does the star they have debuted at home shine, but all their players do.

After defeating the mighty Sweden in the first match and Switzerland in Córdoba, with two wins in two matches, the Spanish National Team marches confidently in the first edition of the UEFA Women's Nations League and remains at the top of their group.
