Mikel Oyarzabal, who despite already having an excellent relationship with the goal, had never scored a hat-trick as a professional, as such, more than justified was the smile with which he left the Nuevo Vivero pitch. In Badajoz last night, he scored three goals in twenty magical minutes against Andorra to sign off on a great night, an impossible to forget 5 June 2024, which ended with an exciting 5-0 win to the home side. "It's my first hat-trick as a professional and I'm very, very happy, about the goals, about being able to help the team and about the result, which in the end gives us a good feeling for what's to come", summed up Oyarzabal in the Badajoz home dressing room.

In 29 games with the national team, the striker has already scored 10 goals and is full of optimism ahead of the great challenge of the European Championships. Oyarzabal has already tasted glory in red and believes that there is enough talent in the squad to fight for something big in Germany. As a hat-trick scorer, he has already taken home a ball from his preparations for the European Championship, which he will treasure. ‘I've got a small display case set up and I'll ask my team-mates to sign it so that I can keep it there for years to come and remember it’.

The Real Sociedad international came on just after the break and had a host of opportunities, so productive on the night that he even came close to scoring a fourth goal. ‘There should have been a fourth,’ his team-mates bantered as Oyarzabal smiled. Tonight was for his memories and to be remembered by his loved ones. ‘This is for my family, my friends, my partner, my son too... They are the ones who are always there when things go well, this is also part of that’.
