Montse Tomé expressed her feelings on Monday as she took charge of the "new era" that the Spanish National Football Team is entering. Tomé emphasized the importance of remembering and valuing that Spain is the reigning world champion and expressed her "utmost confidence" in the future: "We will be able to provide the players with a safe space, and we want to be part of the change," she explained, which she said is happening within the Federation. "The best way to grow is to build, and we have the opportunity to start working in a professional environment from today," she added.

"It is a privilege and an honor to be here," said the new coach of the national team, while thanking Pedro Rocha, president of the Interim Commission of the RFEF, and his entire team for their work in recent weeks. "I feel prepared and capable, and I will do my job with the utmost humility," she stated.

The event also served to present Tomé's first squad list and introduce the new coaching staff of the national team. She expressed gratitude and praise for the coaching staff, stating, "I have been fortunate to choose them; the Federation has provided us with all the resources, and we will create a professional, ambitious, and highly motivated working environment."

"The scoreboard starts from zero from today," Tomé explained regarding the players called up for the upcoming matches she will lead. She had a specific message for them: "We are here to protect the players and listen to them." She has been working with these players in a different role for the past five years and emphasized that she has received "confidence" from all of them.

"I feel good; perhaps many people don't know me because I've been in the background, but I have confidence in my work, and we are eager to start this training camp and do it well," she reiterated.

Regarding the players not included in Tomé's initial squad list, the national head coach made it clear that "the score is reset" for all of them. She asserted, "Everyone has the same opportunity to be here if they perform."

Here's how the event unfolded

Shortly after half-past four in the afternoon, Montse Tomé appeared in the Luis Aragonés hall at the Ciudad del Fútbol, preceded by a video summarizing her professional career: a lifetime dedicated to football. Pedro Rocha, president of the Interim Commission of the RFEF, presented the coach with a jersey adorned with the star of world champions and the FIFA emblem that attests to that title, bearing her name.

Subsequently, the entire coaching staff of the national team took the stage one by one, introduced by name, and they posed for a family photo alongside Rafa del Amo, president of the National Women's Football Committee of the RFEF.

The list of 23 players called up to travel to Sweden and Córdoba for two Nations League matches that are absolutely crucial for qualification for the upcoming Olympic Games preceded Montse Tomé's speech, in which she expressed her excitement for these matches.
