Montse Tomé: "We’re ambitious and the challenges in front of us excite us"

Montse Tomé appeared at a press conference after announcing her Spain squad for the matches against Belgium and Czech Republic in April.

Montse Tomé took questions from the media following her squad announcement for the matches Spain Women play on 5 and 9 April in Leuven and Burgos against Belgium and Czech Republic respectively. Both of the upcoming matches are qualifiers for the Euro 2025 in Switzerland.

The national team coach explained that despite winning the World Cup and the UEFA Women's Nations League, the team wants more and is now focusing on the Euro qualifiers with the Olympic Games on the horizon: "Ambition is something we always have. Now, we have other challenges that we are looking forward to, and we are already fully focused on them.

Montse Tomé also wanted to highlight the great work done by the players in her squad, as well as in previous ones: "We believe that the 23 players are the ones who will bring us closer to victory. I would like to highlight what they have all done when called upon, both now and in previous squads".

Finally, she analysed Spain’s next opponents ahead of April, whom she expects to defend deep. "We're going to come up against some rather defensive tactics, that's what we expect from Belgium and the Czech Republic.
