More than 53,000 people will fill the Boris Paichadze Stadium
Around 53,000 spectators are expected this evening at Tbilisi's Boris Paichadze Stadium, which will be almost full as Spain's National Team arrives. Inaugurated in September 1976, this Georgian stadium is the country's largest and serves as the home ground for Dinamo Tbilisi. It bears the name of a forward from this very team, the top scorer of the Soviet league in 1937 and a highly representative figure of local football.
This same venue hosted the 2015 UEFA Supercopa between two Spanish teams, FC Barcelona and Sevilla CF. It's an open stadium with a track and field and also hosts matches of the Georgian rugby national team.
Spain was here recently, in March 2021, and that visit is remembered for Dani Olmo's last-minute goal, securing three vital points for the team.
