Morocco, one of the great revelations of this World Cup, will be the rival of Spain in the round of 16 of the World Cup. The National Team, after losing to Japan on the last day, has finished second in Group E behind the Asians and will now play against the Africans next Tuesday the 6th at the Education City stadium (16 hours from the Iberian Peninsula).

The national team began the group with the historic win against Costa Rica, then drew with Germany (1-1) and suffered a defeat against Japan (2-1) to finish with four points, the same as the Germans (they beat Costa Rica 2-4). The goal difference, however, allows the National Team to advance to the next round, where a very dangerous opponent awaits.

Surely few expected that Morocco would prevail in Group F. The Africans have finished ahead of Croatia, Belgium and Canada and they have done so by displaying a very attractive game. It is a fast, physical team with players of proven talent. The statistics also confirm the remarkable shape the Moroccans are in, with notable results in recent years.

​​Morocco was already a rival to Spain in the last World Cup and made things very difficult for the National Team. It was in the last game of the group stage of Russia 2018, and the clash ended in a tie thanks to a goal from Iago Aspas in the final stretch (2-2). The other two historical precedents were in 1961, in the qualifying phase for the World Cup in Chile '62, both resolved with a victory for Spain.
