Nacho: "Being considered favourites doesn't affect us".

The national team player is having an unforgettable tournament with the country’s favourite team in Germany: "I've really enjoyed the minutes I've played at the European Championships".

In a press conference in which he described his present and future in professional football, Nacho Fernández has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the national team, which he hopes to serve as long as possible, explaining "In Spain, we represent a wonderful country. We are all proud to be here and I particularly have very good memories with this team, such as last year's Nations League triumph".

Although the player from Alcalá acknowledges that "I would have liked to have come away with the national team without any talk regarding my future, but players are exposed to these things", he reiterates that "it doesn't affect me when it comes to playing matches. On the contrary, I'm really enjoying the minutes I've played at this Euros, the whole squad is completely focused on the tournament".

On his physical condition, which saw him left out of the last two games as a precaution, he explained that "I had some niggles and we decided to rest for a few days to recover properly. Tomorrow, I will train with the team and it will be up to the coach to decide whether I play or not".

Luis de la Fuente was one of the names he referred to without being asked a question: "I want to thank the coach for his support, he has always been by my side throughout this process", he said.

Now that Spain knows Georgia will be their opponents in the last 16 of the European Championships, the Madrid defender wants to "always compete and be at our best. Hopefully, we can do something special and it doesn't affect us at all if we're considered favourites," he said at the Donaueschingen Media Centre.
