This year marks the tenth anniversary of Nacho Fernández's debut with the Spanish National Team, although he has not been part of the call-up lists for the last four years, so he is is back full of enthusiasm in this stage.

"I think it's a reward for the work I've been doing and I want to make the most of the opportunity," said the defender from Alcalá de Henares at a press conference on Wednesday. He also added "I'm living the best years of my career, although coming to the national team is not easy and now I'm as enthusiastic as a kid to be able to do it again".

Nacho has already been in three training sessions with Luis de la Fuente, and he sees the national coach "very close and very kind. He is close to the player and that is very important for us. I've seen him with a lot of enthusiasm and confidence in the players. He wants to win something important and I think this team has the potential to compete and achieve something important".

A renewed national team in which the defender considers himself "one of the veterans" in a "very young team, with a great quality thanks to the competitiveness that exists between the clubs".

He has also commented the absence of striker Haaland for Saturday's giving answer to some questions from journalists. He pointed out that although "it's good for us that he's not here defensively speaking, it's always nice to play against great players and we'll have to be focused anyways, because it doesn't matter who plays, they will do it well," he said referring to the match against Norway.
