An impressive victory for the Spanish national team coached by Luis de la Fuente against the two-time European champions and four-time world champions. Spain, with their victory, sealed their place in the Last 16 and came top of their group, Group B.

Nico Williams was named UEFA's man of the match against Luciano Spalletti's Italy in a great performance by the entire Spain squad.

From the start of the game, Nico Williams created danger down his flank, on the left, where he formed a formidable partnership with Marc Cucurella, who was constantly on the move throughout the match. Nico played a key role in the goal with his cross which, after being flicked on by Álvaro Morata, hit Riccardo Calafiori and found its way into Donnarumma's goal.

After the game, the MOTM appeared at the press conference and was delighted with how the team played and his performance in particular.

Nico has also declared that he is fully focused on the European Championships, as he has shown so far, and that he will try to continue to perform at his best for the benefit of the national team.

Finally, the Spanish winger reiterated his confidence in the team and the importance of taking things game by game and not thinking too far ahead.

Born in Pamplona on 12 July 2002 (21 years old), the Athletic Club winger made his fifteenth senior international appearance against Italy, having made his debut against Switzerland on 24 September 2022.
