Nuevo Los Cármenes, a talismanic stronghold for the National Team
In the city of Granada, a "carmen" refers to a typical type of dwelling with an adjacent garden, and it is precisely on the green turf of Nuevo Los Cármenes where the National Team has found one of its favorite playgrounds.
The stadium, inaugurated on May 16, 1995, has hosted the national team six times, with a very favorable record of five wins and one draw. This record also includes the victories obtained in the old Los Cármenes stadium against Mexico and during the National Team's debut in the city of Granada back in 1971.
Cyprus was Spain's opponent on that occasion, and this Tuesday, once again facing Cyprus, the 19,400 seats of the stadium will be filled for an important match in the quest for Euro Cup qualification.
