Official RFEF statement on Luis de la Fuente and his coaching staff

The RFEF has informed the national coach of the final approval of the renewal of his contract, as announced in February, as well as the renewal of his coaching staff.

Luis de la Fuente took over the national team in December 2022 and led Spain to glory at the 2023 UEFA Nations League, a much-celebrated title after more than a decade without success. He also oversaw a fantastic qualifying campaign for this summer's European Championships, a tournament which the national team has been together preparing for since last Saturday in Las Rozas.

De la Fuente has coached the national team in 13 matches, with a record of nine wins, two draws and just two defeats. Previously, he had a successful career in the youth ranks and his track record includes a European Championships victory with the Under-21s (2019), another with the Under-19s (2015), Olympic silver at Tokyo 2020 and gold at the 2018 Mediterranean Games.
