Olga Carmona, a World Cup with a Passion

The Spanish international, who captained the team in the last match, keeps her loved ones close during the New Zealand camp

She was born ten minutes before her brother Tomás and since then, she has been used to winning all races in speed: 'Even today, we at home all share the same enthusiasm for this sport thanks to my brothers, who were the ones who started training.'

These are the words of Andalusian Olga Carmona, who as a child began 'dancing sevillanas, although I soon discovered it wasn't my thing,' but in this World Cup, she proudly represents her homeland. At 23 years old, the left-back for the national team has served as captain during the last match, wearing the armband from the start in a World Cup where 'there's a lot of competitiveness, all countries give their best, and that's something we need to counter because we want to make history in this tournament.'

With that determination and the support of her loved ones, Carmona and her teammates prepare for the round of 16 against Switzerland, holding on to the hard work of training and their personal talismans. In the case of this Sevillan, it's the tattoo on her right forearm, shared with her mother: 'We have always been inseparable, we have the same name, and an identical tattoo of a daughter and her mother united with an infinity symbol.'

Encouraged by family love and united in the team's efforts, Olga is eager to continue achieving milestones during her New Zealand adventure, 'enjoying the experience as they tell me from home without losing myself,' concludes the young player of the national team.
