‘Our Women’s Courage’, the RFEF Campaign slogan connecting Galician women with the Spanish national team
The Spanish national team face Portugal in Vigo on April 8th in a group stage match of the UEFA Women's Nations League.
Concepts such as pride, hard work, effort, and determination are virtues shared by the members of the Spanish national football team and the ‘women of courage’ from the heart of Galicia, "both at sea and on the pitch." For this reason, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), in anticipation of the Spanish team’s visit to the city of Vigo, has chosen to use football as a platform to pay tribute to these Galician women, who the Spanish internationals will undoubtedly relate to both as a team and in facing the challenges of competition.
The aim is to unite the fans with the national team at the Balaídos stadium this coming Tuesday, April 8th, at 19:00, when Montse Tomé’s team, alongside the young women of Galicia, will be looking for a victory against Portugal in a crucial match in the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
The courage of 'as nosas' (our women) is reflected in the graphic imagery of the campaign, featuring women from the Galician fishing industry alongside the Spanish international footballers. Likewise, this past Friday, it was these women, such as shellfish pickers in Vigo, who had the honour of announcing the names of the players called up by Spain, alongside the National Coach, Montse Tomé.
Whether at sea or on the football pitch, in Galician land or on the green of the Balaídos pitch, together, all the women of Galicia will form one big team for the Spanish football team's visit to the city of Vigo. Because, together, they share 'our women’s courage'.
This campaign is part of the promotional actions being carried out by the RFEF in this new era of governance, with the aim of boosting women’s football. As such, the city of Vigo will be the focus of these efforts, with buses adorned with campaign images, posters, and the creation of an executive "box 0" at the match, which will be a tribute to Galician women.
