Pau Cubarsí becomes the youngest defender to wear the Spain’s colours

There are now fifteen players who have made their debut with the Spain Senior Team since Luis de la Fuente took the reins last year.

At just 17 years and two months, Pau Cubarsí, from Girona, broke the record for the youngest defender in Spain's 100-year history on Friday, becoming the youngest defender to make his debut for the national team.

Born in the Catalan town of Estanyol on 22 January 2007, Cubarsí, who has already been capped at U-16, U-16 and U-17 level, came on for Aymeric Laporte in the final minutes of the match.

In addition, the Colombia match saw Dani Vivian, from Vitoria, get 90 minutes as a right-sided centre-back, completing the whole game in what is his first call-up to any category of the national team setup. A real prize for this elegant Basque defender, who is having a great season with Athletic Club.

For his part, Navarre goalkeeper Alejandro Remiro, who turns 29 this Sunday, came on in the second half in place of David Raya and in his second call-up to the squad has managed to get onto the pitch to make his debut under the orders of Luis de la Fuente, after having been capped at Under-19 level with the national team.

Following the Colombia match, the list of debutantes in the senior national team since last year now totals fifteen players:
