Pedri: "It’s all about putting the team first here"

After his great performance against Northern Ireland, the Canary Islander is looking forward to the European Championships with high hopes, exclaiming, ‘I don’t feel afraid on the pitch’.

‘Pedri is back’, said coach Luis de la Fuente a few days ago, and it was the Barcelona star’s time to prove him right with a spectacular showing three days ago in Mallorca.

The player appeared at a press conference on Tuesday from the team’s base camp in Germany to reaffirm his commitment and belief ahead of a tournament in which the player feels he can ‘contribute a lot,’ explaining that he is in some of his best form of this year. I don’t feel afraid on the pitch. I try to play my game, enjoy myself and I feel very good physically, and I'm looking forward to the match against Croatia and to starting the Euros well".

His clear ideas are also transferred to the collective with a squad in which ‘we try to stay faithful to our style of play and always go for the win. We are very united both on and off the pitch, because It’s all about putting the team first here. Many players contribute important things, but if there's one thing that sets us apart from other teams, it's that the team is above all else".

With unity at the forefront of how they approach their games, Spain are looking forward to next Saturday's continental opener in Berlin: ‘The first match is important, but many teams have won major tournaments without winning their first game. We're not anxious, we're just looking forward to it.
