Pedro Rocha presides over the Spain-Northern Ireland institutional ceremony in Mallorca

The national team played its final warm-up match this Saturday in Palma before their opening match at the European Championships.

The country's favourite team returned to the island of Mallorca more than ten years since their last visit to maintain a perfect record on the island that has seen the national team undefeated in its six matches played in the city of Palma.

In the directors’ box at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation acted as host at the institutional act of exchanging gifts that preceded the match, which was attended by a large number of dignitaries from numerous fields.

Pedro Rocha presented a commemorative gift to the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés; the President of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands, Gabriel Le Senne; the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports on behalf of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Jaume Bauzá; the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés; the CEO of Business of RCD Mallorca, Alfonso Díaz Záforas, the president of the Irish Football Association, Conrad Kirkwood, as well as the head of the Football Federation of the Balearic Islands, Pep Sansó Nicolau.

Works by local artists such as a lithograph by Josep Manuel Menéndez Rojas Mendi, a plan by the architect Miquel Madorell and a figure in traditional Mallorcan pottery technique, made by the women's firm of Ca Madò Bet, have been used to correspond to the Royal Spanish Football Federation by the other institutions.

The Spain and Northern Ireland national teams played for the 19th time in their history in a match which comes just a week before Spain's Euro 2024 kicks off.
