With one match to go in the group stage, an impressive Spain brilliantly sealed their place in the last 16 of the World Cup on Wednesday, the second consecutive time Jorge Vilda's side have made it to the last 16 of this major competition.

Victory over Zambia in Auckland sealed their place in the knockout stages, as did Japan, whose 2-0 win over Costa Rica completed the day's play in Group C.

On Monday 31 July, the Japanese and Spaniards will face off at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington for top spot in the group and a potentially more favorable opponent in the last 16, which is scheduled for Saturday 5 August.

In the event of a draw against Japan it would be Spain who would qualify for the Round of 16 as group winners.
