Queen Letizia pays a visit to the Women's National Team: "You have the support of an entire country"

Her Majesty Letizia attends the training of the national team alongside President Luis Rubiales and has a chat with the players

Queen Letizia visited the senior women's team at the Ciudad del Fútbol de las Rozas on Tuesday and shared her impressions with Jorge Vilda's players, who are preparing for the World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th. Luis Rubiales, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, acted as the host on this special day.

After the protocol greetings, Doña Letizia watched the final moments of Tuesday's training session from the VIP box at Campo A of the Ciudad del Fútbol. Montse Tomé, the assistant coach of the national team, sat next to the Queen and explained the training progress and the ongoing preparation phase.

At the end of the session, accompanied by Luis Rubiales and Víctor Francos, the Secretary of State for Sports, Queen Letizia greeted the players and the entire staff on the pitch of Campo A, where a group photo was taken.

Finally, the Queen delivered a very emotional and special speech, wishing the players good luck for the World Cup. Doña Letizia encouraged them to fight for their goals and reminded them that all of Spain would be supporting them from a distance.

"I know that you are aware of the anticipation you generate and the excitement you awaken in so many people who support, cheer, and love you. People who are very confident that you will do your best to represent the Spanish jersey far and wide and that you will enjoy and do what you know how to do so well: play football, without labels. Good luck. Be certain that you have the support of an entire country that stands by your side," she summarized.

Luis Rubiales presented Her Majesty with a commemorative jersey with her name, an official ball like the one to be used in Australia and New Zealand, and a captain's armband of the Spanish women's national team. "We want to appoint you captain of the team," joked the president of the RFEF. "The Royal Household always accompanies us. The Queen asked us many questions about training and very important matters regarding women's football. She leaves with the feeling that we are doing a good job in providing you (the players) with all the tools. They will represent Spain, they are a fantastic team with a great coach," affirmed Luis Rubiales.

Jorge Vilda, the national coach, spoke on behalf of the entire coaching staff: "The team is very happy to have Her Majesty with us. It's a great gesture. Thank you very much for the words and encouragement. We know that we have a country behind us." Ivana Andrés, the captain of the national team, expressed the same sentiment: "We greatly appreciate her visit and her wish for us to have all the luck in the world. We will give our all for this country; we are very excited and eager."
