Rafael Louzán Elected President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the Next Four Years
Louzán has secured the majority support of the RFEF General Assembly in the Presidential elections, receiving a total of 90 votes out of the 138 cast. The Galician will serve as President of the RFEF for the 2024-2028 olympiad.
Hitherto President of the Galician Football Federation (RFGF), Rafael Louzán, has emerged victorious in the elections for the Presidency and Executive Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the 2024-2028 olympiad.
The Galician prevailed in the voting held by the General Assembly in the Luis Aragonés Hall at the Ciudad de Fútbol. The final result of the vote saw Rafael Louzán receive 90 votes compared to 43 for Salvador Gomar.
A total of 138 assembly members exercised their right to vote during the General Assembly, thereby concluding the RFEF’s electoral process. The session was attended by institutional representatives from FIFA, Emilio García Silvero, and UEFA, Thierry Favre.
Rafael Louzán
Rafael Louzán Abal (Ribadumia, Pontevedra, 21-11-1967) has to date been the 32nd President of the Galician Football Federation and Vice President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. A civil servant in local government, in 1995 he was appointed Deputy Mayor of his hometown. That same year, he was elected councillor for the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, representing the Salnés region. The following year, he assumed one of the Council’s Vice Presidencies, and on 12 July 2003, he was elected President of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra.
On 19 December 2014, he was elected President of the Galician Football Federation, a position he retained without the need for a vote in December 2018.
