The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, was present at the first meeting of the Interministerial Commission organised by the Spanish Government for the preparation of the 2030 World Cup, which will be hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, along with Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Rafael Louzán took part in the meeting organised by the Higher Sports Council and chaired by Pilar Alegría, Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sport, at the CSD headquarters in Madrid. Representatives from the ministries involved were present at the meeting, as well as the Secretary of State for Sport, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, and various key figures from the world of football.

At the end of the meeting, the president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the Commission: “We have to look for a common brand image with all the organising countries. We are lucky to have great allies in this mission and we must all sit down, with FIFA, UEFA and CONMEBOL. That’s how we like to work, with a team where everyone brings their vision. All of this is so we can organise the best World Cup in history, which also happens to be the Centenary World Cup. Spain will lead the World Cup organising, due to the number of venues involved and also in terms of expenditure.”

The president of the RFEF also raised the possibility of involving professional football: “We must include the professional football league, because professional football clubs play in stadiums where in some cases renovations will be carried out for the World Cup, and it is right that is is coordinated,” he said.

The FIFA World Cup will take place in 2030, marking one hundred years since the first World Cup held in Uruguay, and was awarded by FIFA to the organising countries following the bid submitted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation together with their counterparts in the other hosting countries.
