The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán, travelled to Lisbon on Monday to represent Spanish football at the commemorative events marking 110 years of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), as part of the “Football for All” initiative.

During the event, the RFEF president met with his Portuguese counterpart, Fernando Soares Gomes da Silva. Historically united by close ties of collaboration, Spain and Portugal, alongside Morocco, are set to co-host the FIFA World Cup in 2030. Following the joint bid’s selection by FIFA’s General Assembly last December, the federations are already working to address key organisational matters for the 2030 tournament.

Accompanied by Secretary General Álvaro de Miguel and Director of International Affairs Eduard Dervishaj, Louzán later attended an event organised by the Portuguese Football Federation in Lisbon. Held at the FPF Arena, this event marked the culmination of 365 days of celebrations commemorating the Portuguese federation’s 110-year history.

In addition, Rafael Louzán held a meeting in Lisbon with UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, during which they discussed various collaborative matters that both organisations have committed to pursuing further in the future.

The event also saw the attendance of FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom, the presidents of various international federations, Portugal’s recent national team managers (Fernando Santos, Luiz Felipe Scolari, and Roberto Martínez), as well as several Portuguese international players.
