Raúl Asencio proud with his first call-up for Spain
Raúl Asencio is living the dream. After making his debut for Real Madrid CF's first team last October, a club he joined in the 2017/2018 season from UD Las Palmas, the Canary Islands defender has now received his first call-up to Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish national team.
At 22 years of age, the centre-back, who has already become a regular in Carlo Ancelotti's line-ups, faces a new challenge in his career: to represent the Spanish colours and help the national team qualify for the UEFA Nations League Final Four.
‘It's all been very quick and I'm adapting to these new situations, but I'm very proud of what I'm achieving’.
Asencio can boast of having started his first matches for Real Madrid in the Primera Federación, Copa del Rey, Intercontinental Cup, Champions League and LaLiga in less than six months. A spectacular breakthrough season into the elite level of football, something that he can now further add to by making his first start for his country.
