Real Madrid and Atlético touch down in Riyadh
The two teams from the capital have been received with great excitement in Arabia, where they will face each other on Wednesday.
Riyadh is already experiencing Spanish Super Cup fever. The Saudi Arabian capital is preparing for an electric tournament full of excitement, a buzz for football that brings Real Madrid CF, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna together for this year's edition. The semi-finals will be held on Wednesday and Thursday and the champion will be decided on Sunday, with all four clubs eager to lift a trophy that has regained maximum prestige with this attractive format.
The first to arrive in Saudi Arabia were Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, opponents in Wednesday's semi-final (8 p.m., Movistar) in the latest chapter of this intimate rivalry. Both travelling parties were received at the airport with much acclaim and the feeling of excitement in Riyadh is at its peak.
The Red and Whites travelled from the airport to their team hotel, the Radisson Blu Riyadh Diplomatic, followed shortly after by Madrid, who are staying at the Mövenpick Hotel and Residences Riyadh. On Tuesday, both teams will hold press conferences and official training sessions before facing each other at the Al-Awwal Stadium on Wednesday in a clash that, coincidentally, will also be repeated in the Last 16 of the Copa del Rey after the teams were paired together in Monday’s draw.
FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna, who face each other in the second final, are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday afternoon.
