Rodrigo and Carvajal, FIFPRO World 11 2024
Rodrigo Hernández and Dani Carvajal have been named in the FIFPRO World 11 as the best midfielder and best defender of the year, respectively. This is the only award decided exclusively by players themselves. Over 28,000 players from 70 different countries voted to select the best eleven of 2024. Each position is based on performances during the period from 21 August 2023 to 14 July 2024, inclusive. Players must have participated in at least 30 official matches during that period to be eligible.
Both internationals lifted the Euro 2024 trophy in Germany with the Spanish national team, in addition to achieving successes with their respective clubs. These accomplishments made them deserving of a place in this prestigious Team of the Year.
This is an award chosen by the players, and its trophy represents the number “1”, symbolising that each footballer is the best in their position. As stated on their official website: “When the 11 trophies are brought together, they form a greater prize that represents the entire World 11, celebrating the power of the team.”
