At a press conference, the national coach began his appearance by acknowledging that "It’s the hardest squad I've ever had to pick in the 14 years I have been with the Federation". In addition, Santi Denia assured those present that "the Olympic Games are the most important event in the world of sport and a dream for every athlete".

The coach has been very excited about the challenge that the national team is facing as it dreams of repeating the Olympic success achieved in Barcelona 1992.

In drawing up the list of 22 players, Santi Denia highlighted the word "versatility" as the difference maker in what is a small squad: "It is extremely important. It is a group in which I know all the players and I have worked with them. Knowing them and that they have had experience at a high level is very important".

The Olympic Games in Paris will be a unique and historic event for many reasons, including the fact that the two Spanish Football Federation teams will participate in the tournament for the first time in history.

Finally, Santi Denia stressed the importance of forming much more than just a good team on the pitch. The challenge for the coach and his staff is to create a family feeling that can compete for the Olympic dream.
