Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to take charge of the Spain-Italy clash.

Slavko Vinčić was the match official for the recent UEFA Champions League final and Spain's opener at the previous European Championships.

The experienced Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić will be in charge of the match between Spain and Italy on group stage matchday two of the European Championships. The match is scheduled to take place this Thursday at 21:00 at the Arena auf Schalke stadium in Gelsenkirchen.

The Balkan referee will be assisted on the sidelines by his compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraž Kovacic, with France's Clément Turpin acting as fourth official.

As far as the VAR studio is concerned, Poland's Bartosz Frankowski will act as the video assistant referee, while Poland's Tomasz Kwiatkowski will also act as the VAR assistant.

Born in the Slovenian town of Maribor, still part of Yugoslavia, on 25 November 1979, Slavko Vinčić has been an international level official since 2010 and just a few weeks ago refereed the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Among his previous national level appearances, he was in charge of Spain's opening match at the previous European Championships, which ended in a goalless draw against Sweden at La Cartuja stadium in Seville.
