With less than 24 hours to go before Matchday 4 of the World Cup qualifying campaign, Sonia Bermúdez faced the press at the Nuevo Arcángel in Córdoba ahead of the clash with Ukraine.

On Wembley:
“It’s about taking everything from it—what we can improve, what we could’ve done better. We want to win those kinds of games, and that starts with Ukraine. Those nine points are massive. We’re focused on coming out sharp and scoring goals. It’s been a tough few days because we always want to win, but we’ll fix things for the next match.”

On Ukraine’s situation:
“It’s really tough. They’ve changed coach, and we’ve been in contact regarding logistics. They’re preparing in Turkey. The fact the players can stay focused on football says a lot about them. Maximum respect—we want to win, but we understand the difficult situation they’re in.”

On goals and points:
“They’re going to be key. The nine points are essential, and we want all of them. Scoring as many goals as possible is also vital.”

On whether the previous result affects the plan:
“The result doesn’t change our approach. It depends on the opponent and the match itself. We’ll have a game plan to score goals and take the three points.”

On Spain’s playing style:
“We have a very clear identity, but also players with different profiles. We’re not limited to short play—we can adapt. The squad gives us flexibility depending on the game plan. We’re really happy with all 24 players.”

On Córdoba and the Nuevo Arcángel:
“I’ve always heard great things about this stadium. I’d encourage fans to come—they’re very important to us. The support is always incredible, and tomorrow should be a special day, even if it’s hot. I’ve seen the stadium and I really like it.”

On the defeat at Wembley:
“These are losses you learn from. We know we want to finish top, and the standards here are very high. Losing hurts—we’re used to winning—but that’s part of sport. It was a tough day because expectations are so high.”
