The rainy and unpleasant southern winter, to which the players of the national team are acclimating less than two weeks before the start of the World Cup, gave way this Sunday morning, providing a respite that allowed the Spanish expedition to explore one of the most picturesque corners of Auckland.

The botanical gardens of New Zealand's most populous city witnessed the international players this Sunday morning, amidst plants and trees from around the world, including, of course, the iconic silver fern, whose ubiquitous koru or spiraling fern frond, symbolizing hope, is one of the most representative emblems of the host country.

The 23 called-up players continue to prepare for their debut on July 21 against Costa Rica in Wellington. Under coach Jorge Vilda, they will train on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning (ten hours ahead of Spain) at the McLennan Park stadium, home of the Papakura City FC.

Precisely in Papakura, a suburb south of Auckland and north of the country, is where the Spanish national team will have their training base until the following Saturday when the expedition is planned to move to more northern lands and settle in the town of Palmerston North, the capital of the Manawatu-Wanganui region in New Zealand.
