Having already sealed qualification for the last 16 of the World Cup, Spain have left their base camp in Palmerston North to get settled in Wellington and prepare for the final push for top spot in the group.

Saturday saw The Newtown Park stadium, in the New Zealand capital, play host to the second last team training session before the players take on Japan in the match between the two contenders for the final top spot in Group C.

The national team needs at least a draw to cement their place as group winners and also the favourable opportunity to play their last 16 match in Wellington, where they would be able to stay until the following round of the World Cup.

Aware of the importance of the clash against the Japanese, coach Jorge Vilda led an intense afternoon training session on Saturday. This is to to be followed on Sunday by the official pre-match training session, which can be followed live on La1 TVE on Monday at 9:00 am Spanish time.
