The Spanish national team will play its fourth match in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign at the José Zorrilla Stadium in Valladolid. The clash is against the Bulgarian national team and is set to take place on Tuesday 14 October at 20:45. The venue was built for the 1982 Spain World Cup and was inaugurated on 20 February that same year with a match between Real Valladolid and Athletic Club.

Spain will return to Valladolid almost two years after their last match in the city. That previous encounter was on 19 November 2023 against Georgia in a qualifying match for the 2024 European Championships that were won so brilliantly by Luis de la Fuente’s team in Germany. The match ended in a 3–1 Spanish victory with goals from Le Normand, Ferran Torres and an own goal by Lochoshvili.

In total, Spain have played four matches at the José Zorrilla Stadium. The first was a friendly in 1992 against the United States with a 2–0 victory thanks to goals from Txiqui Beguiristain and Fernando Hierro. The second was in 1997 during qualification for the 1998 World Cup, a clash with the Czech Republic that ended 1–0 with another goal by Fernando Hierro. The third took place in 2006 in a friendly against Ivory Coast that ended in a Spanish victory by 3–2 with goals from Villa, Reyes and Juanito. The fourth is the aforementioned match two years ago against Georgia.

Before the fixture in Valladolid, during the same October international break, Spain will face Georgia in Elche. That match will take place on Saturday 11 at 20:45h.
