Spain vs Portugal to be played in Vigo
The Spanish national team will visit Vigo for the first time in their history. Montse Tomé’s side will play at the Estadio de Balaídos on matchday 4 of the UEFA Women’s Nations League on 8 April. Their opponents will be Portugal, a team they will have already faced four days earlier in the neighbouring country during the third match of this continental competition.
Spain have recorded one win and one defeat so far in the Nations League. The national team began their campaign with a thrilling comeback victory against Belgium (3-2) at the Estadio Ciutat de València, followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat to England at Wembley last Wednesday.
This double-header against Portugal will therefore be of vital importance for Spain’s ambitions in the competition. The team hopes to connect with the Galician supporters and deliver a spectacular first-ever match in the Estadio de Balaídos for the city of Vigo and its fans on 8 April.
The match has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Galician Football Federation, the Xunta de Galicia, the Pontevedra Provincial Council, Vigo City Council, and Real Club Celta de Vigo.
All the institutions involved have expressed their excitement about welcoming the Spanish national team to Vigo for the first time.
