The Royal Spanish Football Federation is working everyday to improve its standards of sustainable mobility as part of Spanish football’s social commitment to take care of the planet and promote healthy habits. As part of this commitment, the national teams and federation members travelling to the Spanish national teams’ international matches in Valencia are set to travel on AVE Renfe trains between Madrid and the city of Valencia.

The Spanish women's national team, which plays its first UEFA Nations League match at the Ciutat de Valencia against Belgium, made its journey from Madrid by train. Likewise, in March, when the European champions play the second leg of the qualifying phase of the same tournament at the Mestalla against the Netherlands, the return trip to Madrid will also be on a Renfe AVE high-speed train.

Domestic travel by train, provided that the circumstances permit, is one of the commitments to the reduction of the Federation’s carbon footprint, key to the United Nations 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals and a firm commitment on behalf of Spanish football as part of the Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the RFEF.
