Spanish Women are the 2024 Laureus World Team of the Year

Aitana Bonmatí was also named sportswoman of the year at the prestigious gala held in Madrid.

The Spanish Women's National Football Team continues to make history. The national team was named team of the year at the 25th Laureus Awards gala held at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid. Yet more prestige, adding to the World Cup and UEFA Nations League titles won by the team coached by Montse Tomé.

For her part, Aitana Bonmatí was also an award winner at this ceremony. The FC Barcelona player was named best sportswoman of the year, beating other top professionals from different sporting disciplines. Another award for the Spanish National Team player that she will proudly place among the numerous other individual awards she has won, including the Golden Ball and the FIFA Best award.

It is also worth mentioning the nomination Salma Paralluelo received in the category of best new sportswoman, recognition that continues to reflect the prodigious career trajectory the young Aragonese footballer is promising with her performances.

The Laureus Awards gala brings the most important names in the world of sport, past and present together year after year. That is why these awards are a great honor for the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Spanish Women's National Football Team, whose players Ivana Andrés, Aitana Bonmatí and Salma Paralluelo, accompanied by the coach, Montse Tomé, and Ana Álvarez, head of development of the women's soccer department, attended the event.
