The Copa del Rey Mapfre trophy to sail along the Guadalquivir before being displayed at the Palacio de San Telmo alongside a photographic exhibition of the tournament
This Thursday, 24 April, the Final's trophy will travel along the famous river to the headquarters of the Junta de Andalucía, carried by Spanish internationals Joaquín Sánchez and Jesús Navas
The countdown to the final of the Copa del Rey will feature countless events, ceremonies and activities to celebrate Spanish football's biggest occasion in Seville. After travelling from Madrid to Andalusia via Renfe, the Copa del Rey Mapfre will embark on a journey along the waters of the Guadalquivir River on Thursday, making its way from the Hotel Ribera de Triana jetty to the San Telmo.
Prior to the trophy's voyage, flags representing the RFEF and the two finalists, Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona, will be raised aboard the Nao Victoria, near the Torre del Oro.
At the San Telmo jetty, the trophy will be received by Spain internationals Joaquín Sánchez and Jesús Navas, who will be responsible for carrying it to the Palacio de San Telmo, headquarters of the Junta de Andalucía. The players will then present the trophy to the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán.
To access the palace's exhibition room, prior accreditation is required by sending an email before 12:00 on Thursday, 24 April, to [email protected]
Immediately afterwards, from 17:30, the official ceremony will begin at the Andalusian regional headquarters. The RFEF president will present the Copa trophy to the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno Bonilla. The trophy will then be displayed as part of the tournament's photographic exhibition, which will be inaugurated at that moment.
The photographic exhibition, titled "The Kings of the Cup: A History of the Spanish Cup", will occupy the Palacio de San Telmo's Exhibition Hall. It will take visitors on a visual journey through unforgettable moments from the tournament's more than 100-year history. From 18:00, the presidents of the RFEF and the Junta de Andalucía will tour the exhibition, which will be open to all fans until 26 April.
