The Cup arrives in Seville at 300 kilometres per hour

Rafa Alkorta and Leo Franco, legends of 2 teams in the final, have taken the trophy to Seville aboard the RENFE AVE train, which together with the RFEF will make this edition the most sustainable in history.

At 12:30 (Spanish peninsular time) on Thursday 4 April, the AVE train S-102 pulled in at the Santa Justa station in Seville, where it was greeted with great expectation by one illustrious passenger.

The special passenger is, of course, the Copa del Rey trophy, whose destiny will be decided this Saturday on the pitch of the La Cartuja stadium in Seville in a final between two previous Cup winners, Athletic Club and RCD Mallorca.

Rafa Alkorta and Leo Franco, legendary players of both finalists and who, in the case of the goalkeeper, already knows what it is to lift this trophy, acted as bearers of a cup. They are just two of the many people that will congregate in their tens of thousands this weekend from the Basque Country, the Balearic Islands and many other parts of Spain.

The great festival of football thus arrives in a springtime Seville with a match in which the close collaboration between RENFE, the tournament's main sponsor, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation will make it the most sustainable final in history due to its commitment to clean public transport, its various initiatives to offset its carbon footprint, as well as the use of fully recyclable materials and packaging.

As such, the high speed arrival of the Cup to Seville will further accelerate the pulses of the fans who this week will write a new chapter in the golden history of a tournament that is more than 120 years old, but which is increasingly looking forward to putting on a show that is better than ever.
