Ferran Torres already knows what it means to taste success in the Copa del Rey, and with his goal at the Metropolitano, he sent the Catalans to the grand final at La Cartuja.
The grand final at La Cartuja now has its two contenders. Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona will battle on the pitch to lift the Copa del Rey Mapfre, the latter thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres. The Valencian forward slotted home after a pass from Lamine Yamal to break the deadlock at the Metropolitano against an Atlético de Madrid side that did not make things easy.
“It will be my first final with Barça. I have already won the Copa del Rey, against Barça too, and I hope to win this one for Barça. I’m very excited,” Ferran Torres said after the match about the prospect of securing this coveted trophy for the first time as a Barcelona player. A great opportunity for him and his teammates, made possible thanks to the goal he scored at the Metropolitano, which ended up deciding the match and the tie: “It’s a goal I enjoyed celebrating a lot, especially with my teammates. They all came to hug me there like a real family.”
On the horizon, another Clásico is already looming, a clash that Ferran approaches with equal parts excitement and caution: “It’s going to be a very difficult, tough match. Now we have to focus on La Liga, and when the time comes, we will prepare for it in the best way possible.”
