The hopes and dreams of a nation fly to meet their destiny in Germany
A few minutes before five o'clock this Sunday afternoon (Spanish peninsular time), the Iberia A321 Cantabria aircraft carrying the Spanish players took off from Palma de Mallorca airport bound for the German city of Stuttgart, where it is due to land shortly after seven o'clock in the evening.
The players and coaching staff will be met in the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg by a delegation from UEFA and the local Stuttgart authorities.
After their official reception, the entire Spanish travelling party will then continue their journey by road to the small town of Donaueschingen, where their base hotel is located for the duration of the continental showpiece finals.
On the afternoon of Monday 10 June, Luis de la Fuente will conduct his first training session on Germany soil as his side continue with their preparations for the opening match against Croatia on Saturday 15 June at 6 p.m. at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
