The "Michetour" has been supporting the national team for more than a quarter of a century.
There are those who measure their life in years, but order it according to the major national football tournaments. This is the case of Iván Michelena and his wife Montse Martín, for whom their engagement was Euro 2000, their wedding the World Cup in Japan and South Korea or the birth of their eldest daughter marked the title won by Spain in South Africa 2010.
This half-Cantabrian, half-Segovian couple have been sharing the adventures of the national team in major tournaments with family and friends for more than a quarter of a century, thanks to the trips they organise to cheer on Spain on their holidays, colloquially known as a Michetour.
The Berlin final could not be missing from their itinerary and that is why they will live it together again after a journey that has included a bus, plane and van from Santander to the German capital. The group is made up of Enrique Conde and his son Jonás, who attended the final in El Prater in 2008 when he was just a baby and has accompanied his father through the highs and lows on their European adventures.
Their meeting the internationals Jesús Navas, Dani Olmo and Mikel Oyarzabal a few hours before the match against England at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin was the best possible start to the day of the final. The big match will be experienced from home Spain by their children and friends with one of their lucky charms: the Otto doll, which they have kept since the 2006 World Cup and with which they practise voodoo (this Sunday with the English flag) before the matches of their beloved national team.
