The RFEF agrees a family reconciliation plan with the Olympic Football Teams
The Federation is developing a plan in which financial funds will be allocated to help with the travel expenses of family and friends, and measures will be put in place so that players who are mothers can live with their children during their Olympic Games training camp.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation has reached an agreement with the two Olympic teams (women's and men's) so that the 22 players of both teams will receive a substantial financial package to be able to be with their families or friends during the Olympic Football Tournament.
Specifically, it favours and articulates the travel of direct or indirect relatives of the players to accompany them during the tournament. This is a measure that has been implemented since the tournament began and which increases the work-life balance plan that was set up during the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. It is no longer only the family who can accompany the players, but also their friends and relatives; the RFEF wanted them to receive the support of their closest circle during the Olympic Games.
Under the terms of the agreement, players who have children will have the option for their partners/carers and children to be in team dynamic, so that they can spend free time with them.
In June 2024, the new FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players were made public, recommending to the Federations special provisions related to female players with regard to pregnancy, menstrual health, parental leave, etc. The RFEF not only took note of these recommendations but implemented them as a rule.
These measures put both Olympic teams on an equal footing and the Federation hopes to improve on any recommendations from the world governing body of football.
