The RFEF and Madrid Metro support of the Spanish Women's National Team.
- For the duration of EURO 2025 in Switzerland, the entrances to the iconic Plaza de España Metro station will bear the names of the national team captains group.
- Rafael Louzán, President of the RFEF, states: "There are few things that unite a country more than the Spanish National Team, and I believe we are on our way to achieving another great milestone for Spanish football."
From this 10th July, pedestrians using the entrances to the Plaza España Metro station in Madrid are set to feel a connection with the Spanish National Team, which continues its progress at EURO 2025.
The five entry and exit points of Plaza de España station (Gran Vía, Plaza de España, Preciados, Princesa, and Reyes) have been themed with the colours of the Spanish National Team, alongside Metro's iconic diamond logo. And the names of the National Team captains (Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Olga Carmona, Mariona Caldentey, and Aitana Bonmatí) will be associated with each of these entrances.
The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, visited the Plaza España station, already adorned with the National Team's colours, along with the Councillor for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid and president of the Metro Madrid Board of Directors, Jorge Rodrigo. Both exchanged gifts at the station and walked around visiting the different exits labeled with the names of our stars.
"We want them to have the opportunity to see at this Plaza de España station how Madrid and Metro Madrid support our National Team and our captains," commented Jorge Rodrigo at the event, who did not miss the opportunity to send encouragement to our players: "We wish them good luck, that things go well, that they continue doing as well as they have been, and that hopefully they bring the European Championships back to Spain."
For his part, Rafael Louzán wanted to highlight that "today is a very nice day. Symbolic places like Plaza de España, are the ideal place to run this campaign." The president of the RFEF also emphasised the evolution and importance of women's sport in general and football in particular: "The values of women's sport at this moment in time are creating great vibes across Europe. Of the 16 teams participating, without a doubt, the one causing the most hype is the Spanish National Team. We always keep our feet on the ground, but this makes us think that we can reach that goal of winning the Euros title." "There are few things that unite a country more than the National Team, and I believe we are on our way to achieving another great milestone for Spanish football," concluded Rafael Louzán.
