The RFEF informs Cup Finalists of plans for showpiece match

At the meeting, the Federation assigned Athletic Club and RCD Mallorca their allocation of tickets so that both teams’ fans can enjoy 40% of the seats at La Cartuja.

The Copa del Rey final preparations are already underway. This Thursday, and via-conference call, an informative meeting was held with the participation of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the finalists, Athletic Club and Real Club Deportivo Mallorca. It was the first point of contact since finding out the finalists and the meeting was in order to be able to start working with all the parties involved in Spanish football’s showpiece match, which will be held on 6 April, at 10 p.m., at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville. The final will be broadcast by TVE, Movistar, ETB and IB3.

The clubs have been informed that they will each be allocated 40% of the capacity of the Andalusian stadium, which will mean the presence of 20,698 fans for each team. In this sense, the Royal Spanish Football Federation is again ceding part of its allocation, initially set at 33%, so that Athletic and Mallorca will have as many fans as possible. Ticket prices will range from 40 to 220 euros.

The two teams have also been informed of the location of the fan zones. Athletic Club will be in the south fan zone, in the Fernando Magallanes Park, while Mallorca fans will enjoy the north fan zone, next to the Alamillo Park. This distribution of each set of supporters’ spaces will also apply inside the stadium itself.

From the refereeing point of view, the final of the Copa del Rey will feature semi-automatic offside technology. As such, it will once again be a Royal Spanish Football Federation competition that will use this pioneering technology, as has been the case in the past. In addition, the VAR decisions will also be communicated in the stadium itself via the video scoreboard and electronic advertising panels surrounding the pitch.

The stadium gates will open three hours before kick-off and there will be music and activities to get people in the mood before play starts at 10pm.
