‘Football is passion, teamwork and respect for everyone, there is no place for hatred of anyone because of their sexual orientation, neither in sport nor in our society’. This is the message that the Spanish national team player Ona Batlle is putting out on the occasion of the celebration, this 19 February, of the International Day against LGTBI-phobia in sport. The aim is to unite the whole of society against discrimination and hate speech and actions against people.

‘We play for freedom. In sport, diversity makes us stronger’, continues the player, who gives voice to the sentiment of Spanish football in its “zero” tolerance attitude against any kind of discrimination in sport and society.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation, through its Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability, works daily to provide football with the necessary tools to support causes that improve the lives of people in all corners of the world, regardless of distinctions due to their orientation
