- Today is World Foster Day.
- Children from the youth protection system in Mallorca will be the players’ escorts at the start of the match.
- Families who foster these minors until their adoption, return to their family of origin or until they become adults will be the protagonists of the so-called ‘Executive Box 0’ at the match, something that gives visibility to social causes.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will make foster families the stars of the show at the Spanish national team's match on the 8th in Mallorca for their vital work with minors who, thanks to their generosity, are offered a home.
This initiative, which is being unveiled today, 31 May, World Foster Day, will be implemented with the fostering associations, led by Acougo, an entity collaborating with the RFEF's Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
The aim is to make visible the importance of raising awareness of children and adolescents who, due to life circumstances, lack a stable family and live in social services centres. These families temporarily make them their sons or daughters during this time and until a more stable permanent solution can be found.
To this end, the so-called ‘Executive Box 0’, which raises the profile of social causes and which the RFEF takes to national team matches, will be dedicated to foster families in Mallorca. Fathers and mothers with children who have chosen to provide this vital support will be in the box. In addition, the player escorts who will accompany the players at the start of the match will be children who reside in social services centres and who have become the sons and daughters of families who wish to give them a home.
The RFEF is aware of the power of football as a driver of social change, which is why it is launching various initiatives to help with this purpose. The visibility of these through the ‘Executive Box 0’ scheme in the matches is football’s way of giving something back. So far, ‘Executive Box 0’ has been dedicated to autism, the fight against bullying and a tribute to women.
